Scuttle's Big Wish, a big dream filled by a little boy. |

 Children's picture book "Scuttle's Big Wish" (ISBN 0-06-072645-8), published by industry giant HarperCollins , has been chosen to be featured at Scholastic Book school book fairs nationwide. The book was released to school fairs in January and is gorgeously illustrated by Ryan's father Sean Delonas, an award winning painter, illustrator and professional cartoonist. Ryan created the story when he was just 6 years-old.
The selection by Scholastic is quite an accomplishment for a 10 year-old as Scholastic uses 15 editors to select from 2,000 books submitted by many publishers. While Ryan's book was released by HarperCollins in hardcover to Barnes and Noble, independent and all on-line book retailers such as Amazon.com in October 2006, Scholastic has printed it's own paperback edition of the book for book fairs. Scholastic returns part of their profits to schools to help fund classroom libraries. Ryan, a Fifth Grader, was able to see the book at his school's own fair this week.
Scuttle's Big Wish, a twist on the King Midas story, is the humorous tale of the chaos that ensues after a mouse whose wish that everything he touches turns to cheese is granted. Indeed, Scuttle's whole world turns to cheese! Ryan and Sean Delonas are a bit humorous themselves as they don hats and ties that appear to be made of cheese at their booksignings and school visits.
The story of Scuttle is action-packed and the vivid, detailed, realistic and, at times, large as life, illustrations captivate children and promote discussion. Children are enthralled by the knowledge that this is a book authored by a kid for kids while they are being introduced to a classic tale. The book is the wonderful result of a father reading to his young son and encourages children to author their own stories.
Scuttle's Big Wish has been praised by Publishers Weekly for its "crisp storytelling" and its "glorious illustrations". It has also been featured by NBC "10!"; PBS 39 Tempo, NewsMax; the New York Post; New York Newsday and the Boston Herald as well as many local publications.
