Variety - Disney has preemptively purchased a "Snob vs. Slobs" comedy pitch from the Job Factory, a six-member troupe, for mid-six figures and set it up with H2F Entertainment's Walter Hamada and Chris Fenton.
The Job Factory consists of Rob McKittrick ("Mancrush"), Greg Coolidge ("Employee of the Month"), Josh Cagan ("Gotta Dance"), Jonathan L. Davis ("Dukes of Hazzard") and the writing team of Matt Allen & Caleb Wilson ("Four Christmases").
The troupe's previously combined for work on Revolution's "Supermovie" and Disney's "Uncoachable." On both projects, the WGA granted a waiver to permit the six writers to function as a writing team, with payment divided equally among them.
The scribes have been friends for years, helping each other with their respective projects, and found that working together as a team was a natural progression. "We figured why not take the television-writers-room process and apply it to the film world," Wilson said Caleb Wilson.
Davis added, "With six writers in the room, we can finish screenplays in a fraction of the time and have a blast while doing it."
All six writers are managed by H2F. Coolidge, Allen & Wilson are repped by ICM, Davis by UTA and McKittrick by CAA. |
