Amazon Kindle 2 Fact Sheet
Kindle 2: Amazon’s New Wireless Reading Device (Latest Generation)
Check out the fact sheet on Amazon’s new Kindle 2 which is lighter and thinner than the previous Kindle, plus it has wireless access built in. Kindle is a great gamer gadget to store game faq’s, walkthroughs and more.
The Amazon Kindle has been one of my favorite gaming gadgets because it’s an awesome way to keep your favorite game walkthroughs, cheats and FAQ’s handy while you’re playing your Xbox360 or Playstation 3 without have to have a pile of messy papers and printouts laying around and shuffling through. You have to either use the Amazon service which charges 10 cents per file, or if you’re into free, like me, you can check out the MobiPocket Creator website and convert any of your documents to Kindle format absolutely free.
My kindle has been an awesome addition, you can download whole websites full of content, copy and paste them into txt format and using Mobi, I read the latest gaming news on my kindle while taking the train to and from work every day.
The Kindle 2.0 takes all this one step further and it’s not just an offline reader anymore. Also, if you’re into books, there’s a bunch of Video Game Books Available on Kindle, but I’d rather read the online commentary on gaming sites. While the Kindle is pricey, if you can afford a high tech gadget and are really into reading on the go and hate everything paper based, you can’t beat a Kindle. What’s new for Kindle 2.0?
“At 10.2 ounces, Kindle is lighter than a typical paperback and as thin as most magazines. Barely a third of an inch in profile, you’ll find Kindle fits perfectly in your hands. Kindle is as easy to hold and use as a book.
We designed it with long-form reading in mind. When reading for long periods of time, people naturally shift positions and often like to read with one hand. Kindle’s page-turning buttons are located on both sides, allowing you to read and turn pages comfortably with one hand from any position. The page-turn buttons now flex inward to prevent any accidental page turns when picking up or handling Kindle. Kindle has a new easy-to-use 5-way controller, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words.
Kindle is completely wireless and ready to use right out of the box–no setup, no cables, no computer required. With Kindle’s 25% longer battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage, such as shopping the Kindle Store and downloading content. In low coverage areas or in 1xRTT only coverage, wireless usage will consume battery power more quickly.
Whispernet utilizes Amazon’s optimized technology plus Sprint’s national high-speed (3G) data network to enable you to wirelessly search, discover, and download content on the go. Your books and periodicals are delivered via Whispernet in less than 60 seconds. And unlike WiFi, you never have to hunt for a hotspot.”

Review
I have a 10 month old daughter, and she has fallen in love with this toy. I bought this because of its portability and size, but the small package has delivered so much more.
The sound from the single speaker on the back of the ‘Takealong Tunes’ is extremely solid for such a small speaker, not tinny or hollow what so ever. The lights move in time to the music, and the whole thing is light enough for her to easily carry in one hand while she crawls around the house.
The large button-like wheel on the front is extremely easy for her to push, with just enough resistance that it isn’t going off incessantly, and the colorful caterpillar handle is a natural draw to her mouth. The only minor complaint I would have is that I wish the handle were rubberized instead of hard plastic since it is in her mouth so often.
I thought I was buying a good sound & lights toy for the portability since it is not always easy to drag larger flashing, blinking, booping toys around with us, but I feel like I’ve gotten so much more out of this potent little package.
It sooths her when she’s tired, entertains her when she’s awake, and has become her best friend over the past month or so.
I would highly recommend this to any parent, another winner from Baby Einstein!
